Our Pastor: Jim and Sheila Giles Both Jim and Sheila are two year graduates of Rhema Bible Training Center, Broken-Arrow OK. Graduating in 1977, then returning when the second year program was added in 1978, Jim graduating with that charter second year class in 1979 and Sheila waiting until their third child, born in 1977, was old enough to attend pre-school while she completed her second year Rhema studies, graduating in 1982. While in Oklahoma, between 1976- 1987, they attended Faith Christian Fellowship, under pastor Doyle "Buddy" Harrison and wife Pat initially, then assumed children's pastorate under pastors Willie George and later David Ingles. After returning to Southern Il. in the late 80's they became the children's pastor for Ralph Brandon.In 1989 the call to pastor and teach God's people faith was renewed and they began pastoring in a small country church in rural West Frankfort Il. They pioneered New testament church in McCleansboro IL in 1990 and moved to Marion in 1991. In 2000 the property in Marion was sold to another congregation of like faith and Jim and Sheila began to search for a place of service nearer Sheila's mom in Winston Salem (Lord willing) In July 2003 they assumed the pastor position of Victory By Faith Ministries Pikeville KY. They are used in ministry together; with the spiritual gifts of speaking in tongues and interpretation of tongues in manifestation on occasion as the Spirit wills. They both practice laying on of hands, in faith, and with a tangible anointing, bringing peace, healing, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Jim's most apparent gift is his ministry gift to teach, and his favorite subject is faith. Love is the keystone of their ministry and both Jim and Sheila's love to God, each other, and all people shows constantly. Pastor Jim's foundation and strength is continual prayer and ministry of the Word., He prefers to major in the spiritual and use all the help the Lord sends to help tend to the business. Pastor Sheila has a "masters" degree in prayer and teaches it by precept and example. Jim and Sheila have a heart for the Lost in all the world, and endeavor to support ministries world wide. And they joy to see Christians mature and take the Gospel to the world. They were among the very first Rhema graduates to be ordained by Kenneth Hagin Ministries upon graduation in 1977. They are current members in good standing of Rhema Alumni association. Jim is a native of Marion, IL and Sheila of Elkin, NC. They were introduced by way of a blind date set up by a friend of Jims' who was working at Motel Marion where Sheila was staying while the family visited with Sheila's' dad who was working in IL in July 1966. They were married Oct. 8th 1966 in Elkin NC. Their firstborn child and only son Eric was born August 14, 1967. First of two daughters Jami Lynn born October 29,1972 and Miriam Lynette born September 9,1977. They have six grandchildren. Eric and Lori have two boys Zak and Vincent. Jami and Jeff have two girls Ashton and Kyli. Miriam and Matt have one boy David James, and one girl Mercedes Michelle. They are both graduates of the "school of hard knocks" having "been there done that, bought the tee shirt" and survived the turbulent and rebellious sixties. Both were raised in mainline denominational churches but somehow missed making the vital connection and became church members but not "Born-Again" members of the body of Christ. Sheila received Jesus Christ as her personal savior in the fall of 1974 while visiting the First Assembly of God church, Marion IL at the "invitation" of a dynamic and wonderful young minister Rev. Joe Campbell. The two of them then ganged up in faith and prayer for Jim. Jim was gloriously saved on Easter Sunday at 9:10 P.M. at the alter of a country Free Will Baptist church six miles south of Marion, after having unknowingly been delivered of many demonic spirits the previous Friday during a drunken attack on Sheila. Within a few months they received the baptism of the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues, began laying on hands as believers and seeing healings ( see Mark 16:15 )and were directed by the leading of the Spirit to attend Rhema Bible Training Center. Theirs is an ongoing Adventure in Faith, and every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before. They are blessed and endeavor to be a blessing wherever the Lord leads them.
